What happens at a jewish wedding?

'Tisch' is Yiddish for 'table' - It's a pre-ceremony tradition where friends and family gather around to raise a glass to the couple.

'Badeken' is Yiddish for covering. It happens after the Tisch and before the ceremony. It is a Jewish tradition, where the groom is given the opportunity to veil his bride.

A 'ketubah' is a Jewish marriage contract. We will be signing it on the day.

During out ceremony, we will be standing under a chuppah. It is essentially a canopy. It represents the home that we will build together as a married couple.

This is a period following the ceremony, where the couple's are given a (brief) oppotunity to be alone. Most likely, we will be eating food as we would have been fasting to this point!

No. But if you want to, we'll have plenty available.

Dress will be lounge suits for men, and day outfits for women. There is no dress code with regard to modesty, etc.

We're planning an outdoor ceremony, with an indoor backup option in case of rain.

The wedding will be pescetarian throughout the day. This means we will be serving a mix of fish and vegetarian food. If you have any specific dietary requirements/allergies, please put them on the RSVP or message us directly. There will be canapés at the drinks reception, followed by a three-course meal, and of course... wedding cake! This does mean that there won't be any food until about 2:45 though, so some snacks stuffed into your pockets is probably in order.

Yes, there are bars on site. We also have alternatives for our guests who don't drink.

Yes! There is loads of parking available onsite.

Yep! The venue is fully accessible with paving and pathways around the whole venue, and everything is on ground floor level. The entrance door into the main farmhouse and French windows out onto the terrace have small thresholds to get over but ramps will be available. There is also a bathroom with disabled access in the Horse Barn.

We do on the registry page! However, taking the time and effort to come to our wedding is more than enough of a present for us. Gifts and donations are completely optional and not at all expected.
